Post Technical problems (please read)

Friends,

As most of the regulars know, the search functions on this BBS have been broken for several months. Infopop, from whom we purchased the software, has been completely non-responsive to our requests for help in spite of multiple requests.

Today, we discovered that while moving several off-topic threads from the main forum to the off-topic forum, at least one of the messages disappeared. We didn't delete it... the file itself still exists on the server, but for some reason it is no longer indexed, so it doesn't show up.

About 10 minutes ago, we did remove one inflammatory post, containing one message, that had no relevence to distance learning. But, in keeping with our policy, we try to moderate very lightly and I just wanted everyone to know that the large threads moved earlier this morning HAVE NOT deleted.

I am working on the current problem with the disappearing messages, and I hope to have some sort of resolution in the next couple of days.

Thanks very much for your patience and continued support.

Chip

Thanks for everything you and the moderators do. It's definitely the best Internet site going on DL. I counsel people almost daily on education and this is one of the first places I send them. You are making a difference in peoples' lives.

When you delete a post, let us all know and give us some space for a nice little no-holds barred dust up (fight) over it. We really do miss the shit fights that we used to have on a.e.d. - no-one gets called anything, Levicoff isn't there to accuse me of having sex with animals and so on ... even Goldie has either disappeared or been reincarnated, but the latter does not seems the cases as he couldn't hide his 'dictum'.

You are doing a great job Chip, and so is the Cop.

Peter
