Clermont/Senior/SCUPS???
What are the overall thoughts of Clermont College?
http://www.clermontcollege.com/ They appear to be fully state approved, and an admissions counselor described that the University of Colorodo is reimbursing it's employees that attend there. I am also exporing Senior International University and SCUPS. All three appear to be fully state liscened post secondary educational institutions. Looking for additional options where my K-W BS (once I graduate) will be accepted for a graduate program, other than K-W. Thanks, RJT

This is the reincarnation of the Prescott College of Business & Leadership which was sued by our office. The judgment which we obtained against Prescott and it owner, Mr. Stephen Moss, remains unpaid in its entirety.

I should also mention that SCUPS is not accredited. Last edited by Bill Huffman; 07-26-2002 at 07:10 AM. |

It appears that many less than reputable schools go out of their way to use names similar to well established RA institutions:
"Clermont" vs Claremont "Prescott College of Business and Leadership" vs Prescott College (of Arizona) "Berkley" vs Berkeley (UC) |

Sadly, you're very much in a "Groucho Marx"* situation, Mr. T.
You probably wouldn't want to go to any school that would accept you into a Master's program based on a Kennedy-Western Bachelor's. Unless, of course, your Fortune 500 company is again willing to pay for, recognize, celebrate, and rejoice in your earning another such degree. There are exceptions, of two kinds: 1. Some properly-accredited Master's programs may accept the K-WU degree as part of a body of work and experience. During my time with Greenwich University, for instance (1990-91), a school that had no more recognition than K-WU, I intervened on behalf of a dozen or so students in a comparable situation. There were three notable successes: New York University, the University of Nebraska, and the Coast Guard. And there were 9 or 10 failures. 2. And there are properly-accredited Master's programs that do not require a Bachelor's at all. The two major British universities for which I once did marketing (Heriot-Watt, Leicester) are among them. And my survey of executive MBA programs at 16 major universities (Harvard, Columbia, Stanford, etc.) suggests that all but two were willing to consider a well-qualified applicant with no Bachelor's degree at all. (These, of course, are highly competitive residential programs.) Senior U, incidentally, is co-founded and co-owned by Les Carr, the co-owner of Columbia Pacific University, and founder of Columbia Commonwealth University. I'm glad Bill Huffman reprised my comments on SCUPS. They remain the only school, good or bad, in 27 years, that actually printed pages that looked as if they were from Bears' Guide, and claimed to be from Bears' Guide, but which had me saying positive things I would never say about SCUPS -- and, indeed, had me saying negative things I would not have said about some SCUPS competitors. They stopped on receipt of a stern letter from my publisher's lawyer. SCUPS was also identified in Spy Magazine (2/95, I think) as one of the schools that fell for their 'sting' operation, in which a lawyer claimed to represent a wealthy patron who needed a degree urgently, money was no object. The price offered was $10,000 as I recall. SCUPS founder later established Northcentral University, which has candidacacy from its regional accreditor which, like DETC, presumably looks only at current operations, not prior behaviors. |

Clermont
Hmmm.
A degree from AA to Phd all in less than a year. Hmmm. Accredited?!? The American Council for Home Study Colleges? A. Does not have a web site. B. Their contact has an AOL address? C. Where is Swartz Creek Michigan? Hmmm. One would think a " World Leader" in Distance Education would have a physical location to show on their site and an accredidation host to have a website and something more than an AOL address. One last Hmmm. Would one think that "World Leader" in Distance Education would have a www.clermontmontcollege.edu address and not a commercial dot com. address????? Something is rotten in Denmark. Woops, I mean Montana Enjoy The Vet A.A.B.A, BS, MS, MBA, Phd. Clermont College "All in 24 hours"

I agree about Clermont. The .com address is a concern. They told me that .edu was selected beacuse of the fact that it would be easier to remember.
I've narrowed my choices to: Continue w/Kennedy-Western for EMBA (if they do not jerk me around) Barrington U for their MBA in INNOVATION Pacific Western U (CA, State approved campus) Senior University Int'l. (the Indidvidualized Research MBA) SCUPS Century University. Likely leaning towards PWU, as they are inexpensive, CA approved. I was looking at Columbia Southern, but, they'll make me take 10 classes in their BS program prior to the MBA. I have at this time completed all requirements (Accelerated Final Paper Approval pending) at K-W, for a BS in Management. I realize that all the above are not RA, but they are state approved, and legal, and will require serious coursework. Thanks all, RJT PS - My contention w/K-W is that I've completed all coursework, and the final paper, but they are playing games w/eligabilty to graduate in Sept. I guess I should have read the fineprint. Now I am stuck.
